A traditional pickup wind in the neck position provides plenty of warmth and clarity, and in the bridge position, slightly over-wound coils in the '57 Classic Plus No, the ad copy is not wrong. I just found the ad copy to be possibly misleading. I've emailed Gibson about this, my neck pickup with the 490R sticker on also has a PAF decal on it, is this normal for a 490R? Is there any other way of telling whether it's a wrong sticker or not?

All “Orville” guitars were equipped with Japanese replica PAF pickups, while the “Orville by Gibson” guitars were usually equipped with authentic Gibson USAPAF ’57 Classics, and sometimes the original Bill Lawrence HB-R/HB-L or Gibson 490s.

And I know several other guys who have 2016 Trad Ts as well... The factory just installed a 490R in the OP's guitar by mistake (or possibly put the wrong sticker on the pickup). The 2016 Trad Ts are supposed to have 57 Classic in the neck. both came with 57 Classics in the neck and 57 Classic in the bridge, just as advertised. I just found the ad copy to be possibly misleading. Thanks for the replies Remove the cover and check the color of the coil wire in the square hole on the bobbin top. I've not seen them in chrome, but that may have changed. I'm not sure now but the 57's only came in nickle or gold.

I have a 2016 Gibson Les Paul Traditional T that is advertised as having 57 Classic Humbuckers, however in the process of giving it a nickel hardware upgrade I noticed the neck humbucker is labelled 490R 860-31426-L 09/17/15. I think the 490 pickups all come with a modern 4 conductor cable, is this correct? I think the ad copy is conflicting and partly wrong.

So is this an incorrect label or is this it an incorrect pickup for this guitar? Pretty sure the spec is a 490 R (traditional pickup wind in the neck) and a '57 CLassic Plus in the bridge.
